I founded the Indie Game Reading Club in 2010. I've written and developed RPGs since the mid-90s, now I mostly talk about playing them.

  1. Jon Sprague it’s pretty clever! This is the second edition, and apparently the first edition had some rules-clarity problems (iirc Keith Stetson played that one), but my one play-through seemed easy enough.

There are five roles and they’re all radically asymmetrical. Like, there are literally no rules shared between the five roles other than what a map tile “is.” I played the Knight, solo, and honestly I used 90% of what the Knight does.

Every possible combination of roles at every possible player count works, with the addition or subtraction of a few cards. The only one you can’t play is solitaire Cave — yeah, the Cave itself is one of the five roles. 😛
