Today's thing is "Which game mechanic inspires your game the most?" Weird question once you get out of the trad/conventional play bubble, but it did get me thinking. Mostly I got hung up on "what even is a mechanic?"

Reacting vs Responding
There's a good bit of parenting advice that lodged itself in my head once a long while ago, that when possible we should respond to our kids rather than react to them. It's mostly aspirational; parents are human and we totally react to stuff all the time. But it's a good reminder, at the very least, to take a breath when your visceral instincts kick in.

Primetime Adventures has fan mail. Burning Wheel offers inducements for specific kinds of positive player behavior (embodiment, workhorse, etc.). There are others of course, but those popped into my head. Economic incentives are great and usually (!) actually incentivize. But you know what always incentivizes? Other people.
