Sort of! But have you not had the experience of playing and wanting to hit a move, so you direct the fiction toward that? Which came first in that case?
Heck, I’ve played and run plenty of games that get very meta about that. Like the player will ask “I want this, how do I get it?” and we work out backwards from the move that could deliver that outcome to the fiction that could trigger the move.
I mean, yeah, I loooove playing in a completely organic way. You just talk and talk until you hit a move, execute it, and keep going. But in the real world the cause/effect is always in flux.
