A thing that helps me is images (pictures, graphic layouts, whatever) that are relevant to the text near them. It both helps me remember what is on the page, where it is in the text, and what the context I’m reading it in should be. 

Pendragon 4th did a kick ass job on this, 5th a bit less so.
