D10s aren’t a platonic solid, and were a later innovation in polyhedral dice. The 0-9 D20s were the original D10, and early D20s actually only came in that style. If you wanted to generate a 1-20 result, you rolled one of those along with a D6. (1-3 for 1-10 result, 4-6 for an 11-20 result)
