Machi Koro

Machi Koro

Nihilism

Five player Machi Koro with the Harbour expansion moves the game from amusing filler to a meditation on the meaninglessness of existence.

I’ve been mathematically eliminated…why am I still sitting here? Why can’t I move my legs? Why isn’t anyone saying anything? Does anyone else realize we’re just going through the motions? Should I have spent more time in the office? Did I tell my daughter I loved her today? If a meteor crashed through my ceiling right now, is this the last thing I wanted to be doing? WHY CAN’T I MOVE? ROLL THE DICE AND BE TRANSFORMED INTO A BUG.

  1. Mix all cards in 3 decks 1-6, 7-14, purple. Draw 4 from first, second deck and 2 from purple deck to the market. If anyone buys a low card replace with a low card and so on.

  2. Oh oh so it’s more structured than I thought! I thought maybe you just shuffled ’em all together.

Jeez, that sure points at a middling-bad design. This thing sure got popular given its iffy fundamentals. :-/

But hey, I guess it’s either this or sell my nice tin box.
